Business books

In business books, business owners and/or executives typically delve into a subject related to their business, and/or they relate their own business journey.

A good business book doesn't need to set trends or change the way people do business, but many good business books have.

Because when a business book helps its readers see the business world in a new way, it can inspire change.

On a more practical level, your business book can also help other people know who you and your company (or profession) are. A business book can be a great way to make yourself into a household name. In fact, it was a business book that launched a certain president's rise to fame and eventually high office.

But when you do write your business book, there's no reason you need to do it alone. That's where I come in. As a ghostwriter, I will help you get your ideas, stories, and business principles onto paper.

Want to make an even bigger splash in the world and in your industry? Write a good business book.

Self-Help books

Whether you read How to Win Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie, and learned how to manage your time better via the One-Minute Manager or gained wealth by reading Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, self-help books can help you in many many ways.

If you have wisdom to share that can help others help themselves, then you should write a self-help book.

But just because you are helping others with your book does not mean that you can't benefit from others' help when you write your book.

Writing a good self-help book takes planning as well as execution. Because you can't help others until you know how it is, what methods or steps helped you.

So, if you feel ready to write a self-help book, let's talk.

Memoirs

What exactly is a memoir?

If you don't know, a memoir is a book that shares your significant life lessons and stories.

Perhaps the most popular genre in nonfiction, memoirs typically sketch out the major events and turning points in the author's life. When it dives into great detail, it does so during certain events or time periods. In other words, a memoir is not an exhaustive retelling of one's life, listing every event and moment in agonizing detail.

Another way to think about a memoir is as a curated retelling of a person's highlights, and sometimes lowlights, while skipping much of the boring stuff.

Reading your memoir, someone should get a good idea not only of what you did but also of who you are. They should also get a good idea of your character and personality.

If you work with me, I can help you choose what to write about and help you decide when and how deep you want to dive.

My simple process

My process to help you write your book isn't complex or doesn't entail ten steps or twenty steps or some sort of propriety nonsense.

It's simple, really, and contains three main elements:

  • Building an outline

  • Interviewing and putting words into print

  • Revision

Again, when we write your book, we work on an plan or an outline, we talk through your book's topics, and then we revise what we've uncovered and put down on paper.

For more information on this process, read on . . .

We build an outline

Just say the word "outline," and some people stop paying attention. Yes, outlines aren't fun or exciting, but they fill a great need: they provide direction and structure.

So, when writing a nonfiction book, it's essential to craft an outline that provides the book's basic structure and direction as it also contains the book's main topics and subtopics.

When we draft your book's outline, we do it together. I am always happy to suggest possible subtopics and directions your book might take, but at the end of the day, it's your book and your knowledge in it.

I interview you

When I help you write your book, I don't have you send me snippets in an email, and you don't generate something using AI (and I don't use AI myself). No, I conduct weekly live interviews with you, whether over the phone, via Zoom, or in person (for special circumstances).

I have found that the best way to unload knowledge is via a conversation where I ask questions and you give me answers and relate facts, thoughts, and most of all, stories.

There is just no substitution for one-on-one human interaction, and my process captures that and makes your book richer because of it.

We revise and finish

Once we've put words down on paper that we like, it's time to revise.

Generally, I take each chapter we write through two major revisions, and I proofread and copyedit the entire book once we've included all the chapters we want.

Revision can't make a poorly planned and written book good, but it can make a well-written book great.
